NORTON, Massachusetts – On Sunday, June 5th, a total of 50 First Tee Massachusetts Participants from the Boston – Franklin Park location had the opportunity to travel down to The Links at Mass Golf and play nine holes. “This was a great opportunity for some of our participants who don’t always get on course access in the city” said Kyle Harris, Director of Operations for First Tee Massachusetts.
The day was made possible by WHOOP, a wearable technology company based in Boston. Their support of First Tee both at the local and national level is tremendous. With their support, we were able to provide transportation to The Links to over 25 kids.
The Franklin Park Playstead First Tee – Massachusetts location is a unique location as classes are not always run on a golf course. Co-Lead Coaches Jim Tobin and Marcia Stevens, both certified PGA professionals, utilize an open field where they create a golf course feel complete with nine par three holes during the summer.
“a lot of kids don’t get on the golf course, so for them to be able to see what it takes to play from tee to green is huge” said Coach Stevens “watching them see what it’s like to hit from one shot to the next and into the hole, was awesome.”
The June play day wrapped up spring programming. Summer classes are in full swing and run Monday through Thursday until the end of August when they will travel down to The Links at Mass Golf again for another play day to close out the summer season.
