First Tee Massachusetts, in response to COVID-19, created a virtual learning space comprised of a 6-week First Tee class. These classes will deliver the same life skills curriculum that participants would experience at a typical First Tee class, with modified golf skill development activities. Classes will be conducted via Google Classroom and will go from May 11 – June 20. On Monday of each week, one of our First Tee coaches from around the state will provide on-demand digital content in the form of videos and downloadable activities. Participants will be asked to upload completed assignments and encouraged to share photos and videos of themselves doing the weekly activities. Participants (or their parents) must have a Gmail account or other account accepted by Google Classroom in order to access the material. All of the golf skill activities will be structured so that participants can do them indoors or outside, and with minimal equipment needed. We will be offering PLAYer, Par, and Birdie-level classes. Registration for the entire 6-week session will cost $30 and as always, financial aid is available to anyone experiencing a financial challenge. We never turn anyone away for financial reasons! Which class should I sign up for? Anyone attending a First Tee class for the first time, regardless of age or golfing ability, begins at the PLAYer level. Participants are introduced to The First Tee Code of Conduct and Nine Core Values, while appreciating the rules and etiquette of the sport, and developing basic golf skills. The minimum age to register for First Tee classes is 7 years old. If you are a returning First Tee participant but are unsure of which level to register for, please check with your First Tee lead coach or email [email protected] for assistance.
